Salmon and SeaTrout Fishing in Scotland

Montcoffer fishings offer some of the finest salmon and trout fishing Scotland has to offer and is set among some stunning scenery. The beat is on the Lower River Deveron, a very prolific salmon and seat trout river that is regarded as one of the top five salmon rivers in Scotland.

The Deveron flows through one of Scotland’s least explored areas from the foothills of the Grampian Mountains northwards, finishing between the twin towns of Banff and Macduff, on the magnificent Moray Firth coast. The Montcoffer water is split into 2 beats which are rotated. The fishing opens on 11 February and closes on 31 October, each beat has a well equipped fishing hut.

The Deveron may be less well known as a salmon fishing river than its near neighbours, the Spey and the Dee, but rightly deserves its high reputation where anglers return year after year and generation after generation.

New for 2010 is the availability of Craig Alvah Lodge, the estate house on self catering basis(catered can be arranged).The 5* lodge must surely be one of the finest self catering homes Scotland has to offer complete with a 10 x 4 metre heated indoor swimming  pool.

The lodge sleeps 14 in opulant luxury all on one floor, ideal for large parties or 3 or 4 familays.

We continue to offer the secluded and characterful Craig Cottage,on self catering basis which can accommodate 6 people in 3 bedrooms. The cottage is finished to an extremely high standard. From the bottom of the garden the river runs through the bridge and gorge, a truly beautiful spot to sit and relax watching the salmon and trout jump, or to spend an afternoon painting or reading.

The cottage or lodge do not have to be let with Montcoffer fishings and are ideal for fishing other beats on the Deveron, the Wrack and Lower Inverichnie in particular or it is simply a wonderful place to have a holiday.
